I use this to define the characteristics of how volume is trading intraday. I then compare that information with structure indicators i.e. Range, VWAP, or the like (typically I use my range analysis program). It gives a very solid basis for what is generally going on inside an index.

The Volume analysis plot is used in 3 major ways.
1. Trading Committement.
Volume Flow indicates trading is uncommitted when volume is not flowing in a direction.
2. Trading Aggressiveness.
Volume Flow indicates aggressiveness in the roughness of the line. A smooth directional line indicates more aggressive volume flowing over time.
3. Divergences.
Prices will make divergences with volume flow and indicate a bearish or bullish signal.
When looking to see Committement and Aggressiveness of trading it's recomended to use a 1 min chart.
When looking for Divergences it's recommended to use a 10 min or Less chart.
